Sad News – Brian Gilbank & Jimmy ‘Mac’ MacLean

10 April 2024 Off By bscda

Over the past few days the BSCDA have been saddened to hear of the passing of two characters of our beloved sport.

Brian Gilbank passed away on the 5th April, he has been a face around the pits for many, many years. Father to Mark and grandfather to Liam, the family is BriSCA F1 through and through. Over the past few days we have read an outpouring from friends of Brian who have had many tales to tell, from his days of mechanicing for Willie Harrison to more recent times of being ‘Team  Boss’ of Gilbank Motorsport. Associate Member of the BSCDA, Brian will be very sadly missed and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

The BSCDA were also sorry to hear the news of the last survivor of the very first BriSCA F1 World Final, Jimmy ‘Mac’ MacLean, who passed away at the fantastic age of 99. A regular driver from the Staines area who had a strong London following and raced under the number 44. Our condolences to family and friends.
