The Dave Leonard Memorial trophy is to remember Dave, a long time fan of the sport, who did so much for the sport through sponsorship and crowd funding. As you might have seen elsewhere on this website, the Under 25s Championship was Dave’s baby, the idea was simple, but the effect was massive for young drivers within the sport. Dave worked tirelessly to crowdfund for the annual race, shaking the loose change from anyone that would give it.
Dave sadly passed away in 2016, but his legacy, the U25 race is still being run to this day, and this memorial trophy, first run in 2016 was presented to the winner of the Grand Final at the meeting that held the U25s race.
