Saturday 24th/25th July 2021 – Northampton – European Championship

19 July 2021 Off By bscda

There was some fast and furious racing in Yorkshire last weekend as we ended the with the final two World Championship Qualifying Rounds at Bradford and Sheffield. The Semi Final grids are being finalised and will be released in due course.

Saturday at Odsal saw Frankie Wainman Jnr (515) starting the weekend off with a win in Heat 1 followed by Mark Poole (276) in Heat 2. Tom Harris (1) took victory in the Consolation and Sam Brigg (87) in the Grand National after a fantastic outing which got a lot of fans talking.

It was Chris Fort (3) who took the plaudits on Saturday night as he was out in the 502 machine of Richard Wilson whilst Richard went to watch some big circuit racing event taking place somewhere in the country. He put the car to good use in his Heat as he took victory for the first time since 2017 to record his fifth victory in the sport only to go on and take victory in the Grand Final too with a 12th in the Grand National from the lap handicap.

Sunday saw the return to Sheffield with a much improved booking list from the previous meeting at Owlerton. Sam Brigg picked up where he left off the night before with a win in Heat 1, Neil Scriven (11) took Heat 2 whilst Finn Sargent (526) took the chequered in the Consolation whilst dad Mark (326) got passed Mick Haworth (235) to take 2nd and make it their first father/son ‘one-two’.

The Grand Final was yet again won by Chris Fort (3) who has now won seven races in BriSCA F1 and four of them have been Grand Finals. Joe Booth (446) rounded off the weekend with a win in Grand National after taking some heavy damage the night before and overnight fixing it so the teams efforts definitely paid off.

This weekend we head to Northampton for the annual hosting of the European Championship. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, we won’t be able to welcome any of our Dutch friends from over the pond but we do have a great booking list at present.

Saturday’s start time is 2:30pm and Sunday is 12 noon.
